How to retrieve custom field ID (Cloud)

There are different actions that require the custom field ID, especially with third-party custom field as Multi-Level Cascading Select. Here we list a few different ways to retrieve this ID.

Using the JQL suggestions

You can exploit the JQL suggestions to know the ID of your custom field. To do so, go to Issues → Search for issues and choose the Advanced search (JQL). Here, type the name of your custom field. You will get a suggestion showing the full name and the ID.

From the MLCS field’s administration area (requires administration access)

We have inserted the custom field ID in the MLCS custom field’s administration area, to make it easier for Admin to retrieve it. Go to Issues → Custom fields, choose the MLCS custom field, then navigate to Context and default value. Here, click on Edit custom field config.
